Fidestos laid down on all fours with his muzzle buried in his front paws, looking like he was sleeping peacefully on the floor with his tail swaying from left to right in his room. However, he had slowly fluttered his eyes open as he let out a deep yawn.

However, he didn’t knew that there was a certain someone lurking in the shadows, spying him. They were positioned on top of the ceiling where it was hard for the lion to spot him from above. The figure gave a malicious smirk as he watched Fidestos bathe himself.

It was then he had struck by letting himself fall from the ceiling and took Fidestos off-guard by landing straight on him. He had then proceeded to rub Fidestos’ mane relentlessly. The lion roared before briefly standing up like a horse and sending his assaulter straight into the nearest wall. Fidestos turned around with a growl as said figure rubbed his head.

“Sheesh, Fidestos, I wasn’t going to attack you!” The figure scolded.

The winged feline merely growled again at the figure. He was a young man with white feathery wings and a white robe. He also had short red hair. Before he could say anything else, the two heard a voice.

“Nathan, are you harassing Fidestos AGAIN?”

Nathan and Fidestos turned their heads to see a young man making his way into the room. He was a brown-haired man with the same robe and wings as Nathan.

“Ah, come on, Shane! I just wanted to pet his mane!” Nathan insisted.

Shane sighed as he shook his head. “Nathan, you should know by now that Fidestos doesn’t like to be stroked by you because you are too aggressive!”

Fidestos nodded his head with a stern look on his face before turning around and walking off to Shane’s side.

“But it is just so soft!” Nathan whined.

“I know but maybe if you had controlled yourself, Fidestos would trust you to pet him!” Shane scolded as he stroked the side of Fidestos gently. “Like this.”

Fidestos purred happily. He then looked at Nathan with a smug look on his face. The red-haired angel paused for a moment before looking to the side with an annoyed look on his face.

“I am sure he is only feigning being uncomfortable.” Nathan muttered.

“Anyway, I want to give Fidestos some exercise.” Shane said.

Fidestos’ eyes lit up when he heard this. Shane saw this and chuckled.

“Oh, really? Can I come?” Nathan asked.

“Sure, we are all friends here!” Shane smiled.

Nathan then got up and stood up straight before giving a salute. “Perfect, I will accompany you and your faithful friend, your Majesty!”

Shane and Fidestos both paused while blinking their eyes. Shane then gave an annoyed look while Fidestos rolled his eyes.

“Nathan, you KNOW that I don’t like you talking to me in such a formal manner.” Shane scolded.

“Of course.” The red-haired man grinned. “That is why I do it.”

The three had then flew out of the building and with their respective wings. They were currently soaring towards an old-fashioned Greek-styled city. However, the buildings were literally on top of the clouds. They had noticed several angels making their way through the area.

Soon, it didn’t took Shane, Nathan and Fidestos to make their way towards their destination. A large platform with columns around it. The three then made their way towards the platform and landed down on the platform. Shane was carrying a large golden ball.

“Well, ready, Fidestos?” Shane asked.

The lion smiled while wagging his tail as he excitedly got on all fours.

Shane chuckled at this. “Fair enough. Now go!”

With that, he had threw the ball up into the air. Fidestos jumped up into the air and headbutted it, sending it back into Shane’s hands.

“Good one, Fidestos! Now let’s try a little higher!” Shane said, instructed.

He then crouched down low before throwing the ball straight into the air. Fidestos had then spread his wings and flew up into the air. He had then headbutted the ball again. However, after that, he had flew underneath it as the ball bounced up off of his back and wings. Fidestos had continued to juggle the ball on his back while descending down with it. When had finally landed, he had received an applause from both Shane and Nathan.

“Good boy!” Shane smiled.

“That is our Fidestos!” Nathan added.

The lion couldn’t help but grin at the warm praise he was getting.

“Hey, hey, can I have a go next?” Nathan asked.

“But of course!” Shane smiled.

Nathan grinned before making his way to the ball and picking it up. He had then jumped backwards. Fidestos prepared himself.

However, Shane and Fidestos quickly noticed that Nathan pulling his leg back, signalling that he punted it hard. With one mighty kick, the red-haired man had kicked it high in the air. Fidestos had then crouched down and flew after it as fast as he could.

But then the ball had completely flew over his head and soared across the platform. Fidestos, Shane and Nathan had all looked in shock as the ball flew right off the platform. The three angels had rushed towards the edge where the ball had fell off and crouched down. They could make out a faint image of the ball falling straight through the clouds. Fidestos stared in dismay as his favourite toy had disappeared.

Nathan blinked twice. “Um, oops…”

Fidestos immediately turned towards Nathan and growled at him. The spear-wielder winced as he looked to the side.

“Now, now, Fidestos. I am sure that Nathan didn’t meant to lose your ball on purpose.” Shane insisted.

“T-That’s right!” Nathan said, chuckling nervously. “In fact, I am going straight down and fetch it for you!”

Without another thought, he had got off and leapt off the platform before dove straight down, startling Shane and Fidestos.

“H-Hey!” Shane cried as he watched his friend disappear into the clouds. “...And there he goes.”

Fidestos groaned at Nathan’s impulsiveness. Shane chuckled at his scratched Fidestos’ head.

“I know, I know. Nathan is hard to keep up with.” Shane said. “But that is why I am glad that he is one of my closest friends.”

Not even angels were perfect. Sometimes they had dropped their items someone and they had fell straight through the heavens. Thankfully, they made sure that every item they had cannot be broken by a hard fall. Also, they made sure that their home was over an isolated area where it didn’t fell onto any different bystanders.

Nathan had flew all of the way towards the part of the world that was underneath the clouds. It was over a large mountain area in the middle of a lust beautiful forest. He couldn’t help but smile at the beautiful sight before he had began his search.

Much to his pleasant surprise, the ball was right in his sight, lying safely on a ledge. Nathan grinned before flying down to the ball and picking it up. He was about to fly up back to the heaven.

That was until he had noticed something. Looking down, he saw that he wasn’t the only person on the mountain top. A little lower down the mountain, there was a man that was standing on the edge of a ledge, overlooking the green area, beneath him.

From what Nathan could gather, he was a young man in his early twenties with short dark hair. He was wearing a large black coat that had covered most of his body save for his brown pants and hiker’s boots. He had a stoic look on his face.

Nathan blinked twice in confusion. Who was that guy? And why was he standing on top on the edge of the mountain like that? Didn’t he knew how dangerous it was to be that close?

It was then the man had done something that made Nathan go wide-eyed. The man had leaned forward until he had fallen off the mountain.

Nathan gasped before he had thrown away the ball and wasted no time flying off towards the man who had fell off the ledge. He gritted his teeth as the man fell to the ground below which would had resulted in a bloody death. Nathan was gaining ground on the man but they were approaching the ground, rather quickly.

It was then at the last moment, Nathan had grabbed the man and managed to fly off from the ground. If there was another second, the man would had died.

Nathan had quickly flew the surprised man to a large, solid footing for the two of them to stand on. However, the man was not really cooperative.

“H-Hey! Let me go! Let me go!” The man roared.

“Let you go!” Nathan asked in disbelief. “After you tried to throw your life away!”

“And who are you to decide if I lives and dies!?” The man snapped. “Let me go down!”

“Make me!” Nathan demanded.

The man growled before grabbing one of Nathan’s hands and bit down on it hard. The angel cried out in pain, loosening his grip on the man causing him to escape and whirled around.

“Alright, buddy, I don’t know what your deal is but…” He snapped.

It was then, his eyes bugged out when he had seen Nathan’s angelic wings as the latter had shook his hand to ease the pain from the bite.

“An angel…” The man said before narrowing his eyes. “Great… Are you here to taunt me?”

Nathan raised an eyebrow. “Taunt you? Why?”

“Isn’t it obvious? You are an angel! You came here to taunt me!” The man roared. “You saved me just to rub salt on my wound!”

“What!? Whatever you are talking around, I will NEVER taunt someone who wanted to kill themselves!” Nathan insisted.

“Yeah, right! Don’t act like you had taken pity on me!” The man snapped, sounding like he was about to break down in tears. “Your kind always look down on people like me!”

“Look down on you?” Nathan asked, confused. “I don’t know what you are talking about.”

“Oh yeah! See for yourself!” The man roared.

He then pulled up his sleeve to reveal his right arm. Nathan’s eyes bugged out when he found that said arm was dark red and ridiculous bulky. It was just like on a demon would have. Nathan paused in awe as he looked at the arm for a moment. He then gave his answer.

“So… What is the problem?”

The man’s eyes bugged out when he had heard this. “Excuse me?”

“Why are you upset over having a demonic arm?” Nathan asked, simply.

The man stood, looking absolutely stunned by the angel’s calm question. Was he out of his mind?

“You… You are kidding me, right?” The man asked in disbelief. “I am part-DEMON.”

“So? I didn’t see you attacking anyone but yourself.” Nathan noted.

The man paused for a moment.

Nathan then narrowed his eyes. “Let me guess. You had tried to kill yourself because of your demonic arm, right?”

The man winced before looking to the side while holding his demonic arm. Nathan merely crossed his arms.

“So it is safe to say that it is a yes, huh?” He asked.

“Y-Yes.” The man asked, softly.

“So what happened?” Nathan asked, before walking forward. “Why had made you want to commit suicide?”

The man turned towards Nathan with a stern look on his face. “And why should I trust you?”

Nathan raised an eyebrow. “Um, I just saved your life.”

“I would had prefered if you didn’t…” The man spat.

“Hey, come on! Everyone has a right to live!” Nathan insisted. “Just like you.”

The man then let out a mirthless laugh. “Yeah, right. Tell everyone that.”

Nathan raised an eyebrow. “Everyone who?”

The man growled before glaring at the angel. “Everyone as in everyone I knew!”

Nathan crossed his arms. “Oh, come now! Surely not EVERYONE you knew thought you didn’t deserved to live.”

By this time, the man had finally lost his temper as he ran towards the angel and grabbed his robe with his demonic arm.

“Stop talking about how you know me!” The man roared. “Just shut up! Someone like you would never understand what I had been through!”

While taken off-guard by the man grabbing him, Nathan had mostly kept calm while staring into the man’s eyes.

“But how can I understand if you refuse to tell me?” Nathan asked, softly.

The man merely continued to glare daggers into Nathan’s eyes. However, he then quickly let go of the angel and turned around.

“Just leave me alone...” The man muttered.

Nathan merely crossed his arms. “And let you try to kill yourself again. I think not!”

The man slowly stopped while holding his demonic arm again. “Why? Why are you going out of your way to help me, a random stranger?”

“Because an angel’s duty is to help people in dire need.” Nathan said. “And you obviously need help.”

By this time, the man’s eyes had started to swell up with tears. “How… How could you possibly help me?”

“I don’t know but I do know that I can’t unless you tell me!” Nathan said. “Please let me help you…”

The man paused for a moment with his eyes going misty. He had then slowly sank to his knees before sobbing a bit.

“M-My arm… Everything was perfect until I had been cursed with this monstrosity of an arm!” He sobbed. “Then everyone who I thought loved me turned their backs on me in a heartbeat! I… I…”

Nathan looked on sympathy as the man had started to cry out loud. He had then made his way over to the man and gently put his hands on his shoulders.

“Hey, hey, it is alright…” The angel said, softly. “It is alright…”

After the man had let out all of his pain that was inside of him, he had soon calmed down a bit, even though he still felt miserable. He had then managed to tell Nathan everything that had happened to him.

Nathan sat down with his legs crossed. “...I can’t believe it. So all of your friends and family had abandoned you that easily just because of that arm.”

The man looked down as he hugged his knees. “I-I still can’t believe it… I mean I lived in a holy town but I never thought that they would shunned me just like that.”

Nathan paused. “I simply don’t know what to say… It was clearly not your fault that you had gotten that arm. You are the victim here! And yet you are getting the worse of this!”

The man merely shook his head. “I don’t get it. I had always tried my best to be a model citizen. I had been studying to be a paladin… But then, THIS happens…”

Nathan stayed silent while thinking about things to say to try to help the man. He knew that this type of situation was difficult for anyone to handle. Suddenly, he had realized something.

“Wait… Why did you climb all of the way up here just to kill yourself?” Nathan asked.

The man paused before sighing. “This forest… It is the only place I could stay WITHOUT fear of being attacked just because of this arm… I just wanted to take one final look at it…”

Nathan shook his head. “This isn’t your fault…”

“I know that! And yet nobody else does!” The man snapped. “There are too scared or disgusted of arm to see that I am still the same person!”

Nathan then paused. “I am not disgusted by your arm.”

“I guess…” The man muttered before looking at Nathan. “Say, I don’t suppose you could cure me, could you?”

The angel shook his head. “I am sorry. But if I tried to apply my holy powers to your arm, you may not have an arm anymore.”

The man scoffed. “You make it sound like it would be the worst thing that would happen to me.”

Nathan frowned at this. “Hey.”

The man looked back at Nathan. “What now?”

“Like I said, I am not disgusted by you.” Nathan said. “And I don’t want you to die just because you have a demonic arm.”

The man paused, taking Nathan’s words to heart.

Nathan then grinned. “If you let me, I will never betray you.”

The man raised an eyebrow. “And why should I trust you?”

Nathan paused. “Well, if I really disliked you, I would had let you know right away.”

The man stayed silent. He then let out a deep sigh. “I suppose that is true…”

“Hey, listen, I have got an idea.” Nathan said. “You live in this forest right? How about I visit you every day? At least until you could find a home that would accept you.”

The man raised an eyebrow. “You would really do that?”

“Well, it depends. I have a schedule but I am sure that if I ask my superiors, they would let me see you.” Nathan reassured. “So how about it?”

The man paused before looking at the forest view for a few moments. Soon, he had let out a deep sigh.

“Fine… If you really insist.” The man sighed.

Nathan nodded his head. “I promise that I will NOT let you down.”

“We’ll see.” The man noted.

Nathan then smiled before holding out his hand. “So what is your name, anyway? My name is Nathan.”

The man sighed before holding out his good arm and accepted the handshake.

“My name is Gabe.”

“Nice to meet you, Gabe.” Nathan smiled.
